Humanitarian crisis in Diffa, Niger
Mother-Child Health Centre at the Diffa District Hospital, supported by MSF. Support group for displaced and refugee women. Since the beginning of its work in Diffa, MSF has carried out psychological support sessions to help victims of the violence carried out by Boko Haram and other armed groups. In addition to individual sessions, psychoeducation and community mobilisation, the MSF mental health team has established support groups.
“Today’s support group is made up of women between the ages of 30 and 40, all of whom are displaced or refugees and victims of the violence caused by the conflict. The group allows victims to gain support from others, to share and to find solutions together to overcome the distress caused by a similar traumatic event”, says Yacoubou Harouna, a psychologist for MSF in Diffa.
